Kay Barbeque

Kay Barbeque is located at 16/27 in the Central Market of Ashok Vihar Phase I. We’ve been here in the market for a good while. The smell of the grill usually lets people know where we are before they even see the sign. It’s a busy market area, so there’s always someone walking by. We have a few tables inside, but a lot of what we do is just people picking up food to take away. The grills stay hot most of the day. We spend a lot of time marinating the meats and getting the coals ready. It’s a messy job sometimes, with all the smoke and the heat, but we’re used to it. The staff is a small group. We aren't corporate, just some guys who know how to work a grill. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just put the food out and hope people like it. Usually, they do. We see a lot of families coming by on the weekends. It gets pretty loud in here when it’s full. Sometimes we have to tell people there’s a wait for a table. We try to keep the prices fair so everyone in the neighborhood can come by. It’s just a local barbeque spot. Nothing more, nothing less. We keep the counters wiped down and the fire going. It takes a lot of effort to keep the charcoal at the right temperature, but that’s the main part of the job. We stay until the last coal goes out.
