Kanhai Lal Prakash Kumar

Our place, Kanhai Lal Prakash Kumar, is tucked away in Azadpur at Shop No B 783 in the New Sabji Mandi area. If you have ever been to Azadpur, you know it is a massive place where you can easily get lost if you do not know the block letters. We deal with the vegetables that come in every morning. It is a lot of lifting and moving bags around from one side of the shop to the other. The floor is usually covered in bits of leaves and dirt, which is just part of the work we do. We start very early, usually while most people are still sleeping, because that is when the market is most alive. It is a bit of a struggle sometimes with the trucks blocking the narrow lanes outside. We have been here for many years now, and the shop has stayed pretty much the same. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger books and a few stools for when a friend stops by for tea. It is not a fancy setup at all. We just focus on getting the stock in and out to whoever needs it. The noise never really stops until late. Some days are much busier than others depending on what the harvest is like. We do not really do any advertising or anything. People who need us just find their way to B 783. It is just a regular family business.
