Kamal Dal Mil

Working in Naya Bazar is always a bit of a scramble. Our spot in Bansal Market is tucked away near Chaddha Market, and if you know this area, you know how crowded it gets with carts and people. Kamal Dal Mil has been part of this noise for years. We deal with all sorts of pulses, and the air inside the shop always smells like raw lentils and earth. It’s a tight space at No. 2641/6, but we make it work by stacking the bags high. Every morning starts with unloading the new stock and making sure the scales are balanced. We don’t have much time for sitting around because there is always someone coming in to check prices or order for their kitchen. The market can be exhausting with all the shouting and the narrow lanes, but it’s where everything happens. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we usually share tea while talking about how the crop prices are shifting this week. It is a simple life of buying, milling, and selling. We don’t do much advertising; people just find us because we’ve been here in the market long enough to be a familiar face. Some days are slow, but mostly we’re just busy trying to keep the dust off the ledgers and making sure the customers get exactly what they paid for.
