J.K. Herbs And Spices

If you ever walk through Khari Baoli, you know the air is thick with the smell of everything from chili to turmeric. We are located at 311/16 in Kucha Sanjogi Ram, which is a tiny lane in the Naya Bans area. J.K. Herbs And Spices has been in this crowded part of Delhi for a long time. It’s a place where you have to watch your step because of the big sacks of spices being moved on wooden carts. Our shop is small and filled from floor to ceiling with bags and boxes. The dust from the herbs makes everyone sneeze if they aren't used to it, but we don't even notice it anymore. We spend our days weighing out orders and talking to the regular customers who have been coming to us for years. There is no air conditioning here, just an old fan that moves the spicy air around. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, based on handshakes and memory. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just know our spices and we know our neighbors. The noise from the main road is constant, but inside the kucha, it’s a different kind of busy. It’s hard work, lifting heavy loads and staying on our feet, but it’s what we do. We share tea with the traders next door and keep an eye on each other's stalls during the busy hours.
