Jim International

Working out of Chawri Bazar is something else entirely. Our place, Jim International, is tucked away in Gali Charan Dass. If you know where the Chomukha Mandir is, then you know exactly where we are. It’s number 3221. The lanes around here are narrow and there’s always someone shouting or a handcart trying to squeeze past your toes. It gets pretty chaotic during the middle of the day, but that's just the bazaar. We’ve been in this exact spot for a good bit now. Inside the shop, it’s mostly shelves piled high with stock and some old fans that struggle to keep the air moving in the heat. We aren't trying to be anything we're not. We just handle the business and talk to the people who walk through the door. Hauz Qazi is famous for this kind of stuff, and we’re just one small part of the whole scene. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but there’s never really any time to stop and do it. We mostly focus on getting the crates moved and the invoices written out by hand in our books. It’s loud outside, and sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, but that’s just how it is in Old Delhi. We know most of the guys in the neighboring shops. We share a tea or just nod when we see each other. It’s a busy life here, but it’s what we know. Jim International is just us working in the thick of it all.
