India Lemon House Co is tucked away in the Azadpur New Sabzi Mandi at A-253. If you’ve ever been to the mandi, you know how crazy it gets with all the trucks and people shouting. We deal mostly with lemons, as you can probably guess from the name. Our days start extremely early, usually when most people are still fast asleep. The crates come in and we have to sort through them. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around in the heat. The air always smells a bit like citrus and exhaust fumes from the vehicles. We’ve been at this stall for a long time. It’s not a quiet place to work, that’s for sure. There’s always someone haggling or a cart blocking the path. We just try to get the bags loaded and sent off to wherever they’re going next. The floor is usually covered in some kind of dust or leaves. We don't have a fancy office, just our spot in the A block where we handle the business. It’s a tough environment, especially during the monsoon when everything gets muddy. But this is where the trade happens. We just stick to our lemons and try to keep things moving. It’s simple work but it keeps us busy from dawn until the afternoon when things finally quiet down a bit. There isn't much time for rest once the trucks start arriving at the gate.
