Sadar Bazar is always a bit of a chaotic place to work, and Teliwara is no different. Our shop at 2325 is right in the middle of all that noise and movement. Working with plastic goods means we have bags and items stacked up high, often reaching the ceiling. It can get quite hot in the summer months because the breeze doesn't really make it through the narrow lanes. We spend a lot of time counting stock and making sure the right items go to the right customers. There isn't much space to move around, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over. People come in and out all day, some looking for specific things and others just checking prices. We don't really do fancy displays; everything is just there on the shelves or in crates. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. My family has been around this area for a long time, so we know most of the neighbors. Sometimes we share a meal or just complain about how crowded the street is getting. It is a busy life, and by the end of the day, your feet usually hurt. But that is how it goes when you are running a business in a market like this. You just get on with it and hope the traffic isn't too bad when it's time to lock up and head home for the night. We keep the ledger books on a high shelf.
