People often ask how we manage in such a crowded spot like Gali Batashan. Our office is up on the first floor at 6092, and if you know Khari Baoli, you know it is always packed with people and carts moving goods. Gulzari Lal Grover & Sons Pvt. Ltd. has been around this part of Old Delhi for quite some time now. My grandfather was the one who really got things moving here. It is not a fancy place, just rooms filled with ledgers and the smell of the spice market coming through the windows. The stairs are narrow and we have to be careful when moving boxes up and down. We mostly deal with the same traders we have known for decades. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back. It is a family thing, really. My brothers and I take turns being here. We do not have a big corporate lobby or anything like that. Just some old desks and a lot of history in the walls.
