Golden Enterprises

Golden Enterprises is tucked away in Kucha Hetan, which is a small lane off the main stretch of Khari Baoli. If you have ever walked through these parts, you know the air is always thick with the smell of spices and the sound of heavy wooden carts being pushed over the uneven ground. Our place at 1871 is not very large, but it serves us well enough for what we do every day. The walls are thick and painted an old shade of off-white that has faded over the decades. We spend most of our time dealing with orders and talking to people who come through the door looking for specific items. It can get quite dusty, especially when the wind picks up or when the big trucks are unloading nearby. We have a few old wooden chairs for visitors, though they aren't the most comfortable things in the world. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour or two, so we just sit by the doorway where the light is better and carry on. There is no point complaining about it since everyone in the lane is in the same boat. Most of us here have known each other for a long time, so work feels more like just hanging out with people you've grown up with. We close up when it gets dark and the market starts to quiet down, then we do it all again the next morning.
