Gautam Brothers

We’ve been running Gautam Brothers out of 858, Churiwalan, right near the Jama Masjid area, for many years. It’s an old part of the city with a lot of history in the walls. Our shop is small and the street outside is always packed with people and rickshaws. We do our best to keep things organized in such a tight space. Most of the day is spent talking to customers who walk in off the street. We aren't the type to use a lot of fancy technology. We still use ledgers for a lot of our accounts because that’s how we’ve always done it. It might seem a bit old-fashioned to some, but it works for us. The noise from the mosque and the market is something you just stop noticing after a while. We have a lot of regular faces who stop by just to say hello or have a quick chat while they look at what we have. It’s a family-run kind of place, so there’s always someone around you know. We don’t have a big corporate structure or anything like that. We just open up in the morning and stay until the work is done. Sometimes we stay late if there’s a big order to sort out. It’s a simple life but we’re proud to be part of the Churiwalan community. Being near Jama Masjid means there’s always something interesting going on outside our door. We've seen the neighborhood change but we stay the same and just keep going.
