Fortune International

Fortune International is situated at 562-563 inside Katra Ishwar Bhawan in the Khari Baoli area. If you’ve ever been to Khari Baoli you know it is one of the busiest spice markets you can find. The smell of chili and turmeric is always in the air here and it makes everyone sneeze sometimes. Our space is in an old building that has a lot of history to it. The walls are thick and the ceilings are high but it’s quite cramped with all the bags and samples we keep around. We’ve been operating out of this katra for a long time. Every morning we open up the heavy doors and start the day by checking the new stocks that arrived. It’s a lot of shouting across the hallway and dealing with laborers moving heavy sacks on their backs. There isn’t much room for fancy furniture so we just have what we need to get the work done. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the long hours. The stairs are worn down from years of people walking up and down. We deal with all kinds of folks from all over the country who come here to buy and sell. It’s a loud, dusty, and fast-paced environment but we wouldn’t really know what to do with ourselves in a quiet modern office. This is just how business happens in the heart of the old city.
