Creative Lights

Our shop, Creative Lights, is located at 553 Mount Road, inside the East Coast Centre. If you’ve walked down Mount Road, you probably missed us because there are so many signs everywhere. We’ve got a lot of different lamps and bulbs hanging from the ceiling and sticking out from the walls. It makes the shop very bright, almost too bright sometimes when you’ve been here all day. We spend a lot of time helping people figure out what kind of light they need for a room that’s too dark or a kitchen that needs a change. Most people come in not really knowing the difference between the warm or cool bulbs, so we end up plugging things in and showing them. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to knock anything over when we’re moving around. The inventory changes quite a bit, so we’re always unpacking new boxes and trying to find a spot to display things. It’s just us here, usually listening to the radio and waiting for the next customer to walk in. We don’t do big installations or anything like that; we just sell the stuff and give some basic advice on how to hang it. Mount Road is always noisy with traffic, but once you step inside, it’s just the hum of the electricity and us working on the displays. It is a simple way to spend the day.
