If you are ever in Azad Market, you can find us at Shop No. 10123. We are right near the library and the red light, so it’s a very busy spot. B P K Masale has been a part of this market for a long time. The shop is small and packed from floor to ceiling with bags and containers. There isn't much room to move around, especially when we have a delivery coming in. The noise from the traffic outside is constant, but you stop noticing it after the first hour. We deal with spices all day long. My hands usually smell like coriander or cloves even after I wash them. We don't have a big office or computers everywhere. Most of our records are still kept in notebooks. It’s a traditional way of doing business, face to face with the people who come into the market. We know many of our customers by their faces and what they usually buy. Sometimes the market gets so crowded you can barely walk, but that’s just Azad Market for you. We don't put on any acts or try to look bigger than we are. We are just a small shop in a big market trying to do right by the people who trust us. It’s a long day, but it’s good work. We close up when the sun goes down and start all over again the next day.
