Aanoor International is tucked away in Katra Ishwar Bhawan. If you’ve ever been to Khari Baoli, you know it’s the heart of the spice trade in Delhi. Our spot is number 600. It’s loud, crowded, and always smells like chili and black pepper. We spend our days dealing with the chaos of the market. The building is old, like most things around here, with narrow stairs and lots of history in the walls. We don’t really have a lot of space for a lounge or anything like that. It’s mostly just desks, chairs, and stacks of samples. The laborers are always moving sacks in the lane outside, so there’s a constant shouting and noise. We get used to it after a while. Most of our work is talking to traders and making sure the orders are right. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day. It’s the only way to stay sharp when things get hectic in the afternoon. Khari Baoli isn't for everyone, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home. Sometimes the dust makes you sneeze, but that’s just part of the job. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth is usually how people find us in this maze. It's a busy life, and we’re just one small part of this massive market. By the time we close up, the lights in the Katra are dimming and the street finally starts to get a little bit quieter.
