Shimul Halder

Shimul Halder operates right here on Kornell K. P. Gupta Road. If you know the area, it is quite close to the Ramprasad Playground, which is usually loud with kids playing in the evenings. We spend most of our time here in Nabanagar, dealing with whatever comes through the door. The post office is nearby too, making it a busy little corner of Bijpur. It’s not a fancy place by any means. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it’s where we do the work every day. Mostly, it’s just about getting through the daily list of things to do. Sometimes the traffic on the road gets a bit much, especially during the festival seasons when everyone is out, but you get used to it after a while. We’ve been at this spot for some time now. People around here know the name, and they usually just stop by when they need something. There isn't a big reception desk or anyone wearing a suit. You just walk in and talk to whoever is around. The air smells like the local market and the dust from the road. It feels real. It’s a lot of hard work, and by the end of the day, we are usually pretty tired and ready to go home. We don’t have any big speeches to give. We just handle the tasks as they come and try to keep things moving. It is a simple way of living.
