Provas Ghosh & Co.

Down here in Narayanpur, near the old panchayat in Kankinara, we’ve been running Provas Ghosh & Co. for a good while. It's a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't from around Jagatdal. Our office is a modest building in a quiet part of the district. We handle a lot of different things, mostly stuff involving local trade and logistics. The pace is usually steady but not overly rushed. We know most of the people who come through the door because they’ve been living in 24 Parganas North their whole lives, just like us. We sit around the big wooden table to discuss the work for the day. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that drives us crazy, but we haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. We aren't trying to be some high-flying firm from the city. We are just local people providing a service to our neighbors. We spend our mornings checking the mail and our afternoons making sure everything is in order. My nephew helps out with the ledger. We often have tea together in the afternoon and watch the street outside. It’s a simple way to run a business. We don't have a website or anything like that, we just rely on people knowing who we are and where to find us near the old panchayat buildings and the post office.
