Shanti Nursery

If you find yourself near the Keutia Kali Tala bus stop, you will see our place right there. Shanti Nursery is basically just a bunch of plants and a lot of dirt in the Kankinara area. We spend most of the morning watering things and making sure the saplings are not drying out under the hot sun. It is a bit messy with all the pots and bags of soil lying around, but that is how a nursery works. The village life here in Keutia is quiet for the most part, except when the bus pulls up and everyone gets off for the day. We get a lot of locals stopping by just to ask about what grows well in this West Bengal weather or to pick up a few things for their gardens. We do not have any big signs or fancy displays here. Just rows of green and some seasonal flowers when the time is right. Sometimes the rain makes the ground real muddy, so we have to wear old boots all day. My hands are almost always covered in soil, and there is always something that needs pruning or moving to a bigger pot. We have been at this spot for a while now, right in the district. It is peaceful work, even if it is hard on the back. We just keep the plants growing and wait for the next season to change things up. It is not much, but it keeps us busy from sunrise until the sun goes down over the fields.
