Coastal Bearing Centre An Entrepreneurship Venture

If you find yourself on Gola Ghata Road in Kolkata, you’ve probably seen our shop. We’re pretty close to VIP Road, so the traffic noise is just a part of the daily background here. Coastal Bearing Centre isn't some massive corporation; it’s really just an entrepreneurship venture we started to supply parts to people who need them. Most of the day is spent checking inventory or talking to mechanics who come in looking for specific bearings that they can't find elsewhere. The shop gets a bit dusty because of the road, but we try to keep the stock organized. It is usually just a couple of us here, handling the phone calls and moving boxes around. Kolkata can get incredibly humid, so the afternoon slump is real, but we stay busy enough that the time goes by. We don't have a fancy showroom. You’ll mostly see shelves stacked high with various sizes of bearings and some grease on our hands. It’s straightforward work. We don't spend money on big signs or anything like that. People mostly find us through word of mouth or because they were driving towards the airport and saw the sign. It’s a small operation, but we’ve been at it for a while and know the local market pretty well. We aren’t interested in those big corporate ways of doing things; we just want to sell parts and make sure the customer gets what fits their machine. That’s about it for our little place here.
