Our place is at Ab 8 23 1 Vip Garden, B Block, on the third floor. Flat No 1 in Deshbandhu Nagar is where we all meet up and get things done. Bengal Network For People Living With Positive is basically just a group of us trying to help each other out in Kolkata. It’s a quiet spot most of the time, though it gets a bit loud when everyone shows up for tea and a chat. We deal with a lot of stuff that isn't easy to talk about, so having this space in Flat 1 makes a big difference to everyone. It’s not a fancy office with leather chairs or anything like that. It’s more like a living room where you can sit down and just be yourself for a bit. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just listening to someone who had a rough day. Life in the city is fast, and it’s easy to feel left behind when you are struggling. We try to make sure that doesn't happen here. Everyone chips in with chores or helps organize the paperwork. Sometimes we run out of biscuits or the fan stops working, but we make do with what we have. Being on the third floor of B Block means we get a bit of a breeze in the evenings. It’s just a bunch of regular people supporting one another without any fuss or complicated rules.
