Shri Sai Salt Industries

We’ve been out here in Maniki Village for a while now. Modinagar is close by, just near the town area, but our spot is more quiet. Salt is what we do at Shri Sai Salt Industries. It’s not fancy work, mostly just moving bags and making sure the quality is okay before it goes out. The air here sometimes feels a bit heavy when the sun is out, especially being so close to the fields. We started small with just a few people from around the district Ghaziabad. Most of us walk or take a bike to get here. There’s no big office with AC or anything like that. Just a shed and some space to stack the salt. You can find us easily if you know the road heading towards the town area. Sometimes the trucks get stuck on the narrow bits of the road, but we manage. We don’t spend much time on the computer or writing long reports. Most of our day is spent on our feet, checking the piles and talking to the drivers. It gets dusty, and by the end of the shift, everyone is ready to head home. It’s just how it is. We’ve seen the village change a bit over the years, more buildings popping up, but the work we do stays pretty much the same. If you’re looking for us, just ask someone near the village entrance, they usually know where the salt place is.
