Rr Furnitures is tucked away in Sector 4 of Noida, at C-40. It’s a workshop and a bit of a showroom combined into one big space. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the strong smell of freshly cut wood and wood polish. There is always a layer of sawdust on the floor, no matter how many times we sweep it up during the day. We have different sections for cutting the wood, sanding it down, and finally putting the pieces together. It’s a noisy place with circular saws running and hammers hitting nails from morning until evening. The furniture we make sits around in various stages of being finished. Some pieces are just bare wooden frames, while others are getting their final coat of varnish or some fabric. We don't have a fancy display window like the shops in the mall; you just see the work happening right there on the floor. The staff consists of a few skilled carpenters and some younger helpers who move the heavy wardrobes around. Sector 4 is a busy part of Noida with lots of small industrial units, so there’s always noise and movement in the street. We often have small trucks backing in to load up finished items like beds or tables. It can be a bit chaotic when we have a big order to get out by Friday, but we usually find a way to finish it. We prefer being out where the making happens.
