Maa Durge Mobile Center

Maa Durge Mobile Center has been in Sector 15 for a long time. It’s just a small shop, mostly filled with boxes of phone covers and some old chargers we keep in the back. I usually get here around ten in the morning and pull up the shutter. The street gets quite loud with the traffic outside. Most of the day is spent sitting behind the glass counter. People from the neighborhood drop by when their phone screen breaks or if they need a new SIM card. We have a couple of plastic stools for people to sit on while they wait. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving when it gets hot. Sometimes we just sit and talk about the weather or the local news while I try to figure out why a particular phone won’t charge. It’s not fancy here. There’s a calendar on the wall from three years ago that no one ever took down. We keep a notebook to write down what people owe or what we need to order from the city. In the evenings, the lights from the other shops come on and it feels a bit more lively. We usually close up around eight or nine once the foot traffic dies down. It's just a regular place where we do our work and see the same faces every day.
