Jay Polyscience is over at 716/1, near the G.I.D.C. estate. Being near the industrial center means there’s always something going on around us. We work with polymers and various chemical things. It’s a bit of a messy business. We have big vats and mixing containers all over the place. The smell of plastic is something you just get used to after a few days. We’ve been at this location for a good number of years. It’s not a sterile environment like a school lab. It’s a working factory floor. We wear heavy aprons and boots most of the time. The light coming in through the high windows is usually filtered by dust. We don’t have a big sales team or anything like that. People who need what we make usually find us through someone else they know. We spend a lot of time just watching the gauges and making sure the mixes are right. Sometimes a batch doesn't go perfect and we have to start over. That’s just part of it. We don't have any big brochures or fancy speeches about technology. We’re just regular folks working with chemicals and plastics in a hot warehouse near the G.I.D.C. It’s tough work sometimes, especially when the humidity is high, but it’s what we do to get by. We just try to keep the machines running and the floors somewhat clear.
