Anil Photo Studio

Being in the Sector 49 Main Market in Barola means there is never a quiet moment. Anil Photo Studio has been here through many changes in the market. I spend most of my time behind the camera or sitting at the computer editing things. People come in looking a bit nervous for their passport photos, trying to smooth down their hair before I click the shutter. The lights in the studio are bright and it gets quite warm inside when they are all turned on. We have backdrops that are a bit faded at the edges, but they still look okay in the final prints. Sometimes families come in all dressed up for a group portrait and the kids start running around the tripods. It can be a mess. Outside, the Barola market is always shouting with vendors and horns. I like to stand by the door sometimes just to breathe for a minute. We handle a lot of printing work too, mostly just regular stuff for school projects or old photos people want to save. The printer has its own moods and sometimes decides to jam right when we are busy. That is just part of the job. It’s a local place where you can just walk in and get things done without a fuss. We keep the finished photos in little paper envelopes on the shelf, waiting for people to come back and collect them.
