Akash Pan Bhandar

If you walk down Lakshmi Nagar Gurdwara Lane, you will find our small shop near the 1/10-1/122 block. It is a very tight space with jars and containers stacked up on every shelf. We have been doing this work for many years. Most people stop by after they finish their dinner to get a pan or some tobacco. The air around the shop always smells like cloves and fresh betel leaves. It gets very crowded in the evenings when the lane is full of people heading home from their jobs. I usually spend the whole day sitting behind the small counter. My hands stay stained from the lime and the different juices we use for the pan. It is not a fancy business at all, just a small corner in the neighborhood where people meet. We know most of the neighbors and their families who live around here. Sometimes people just stand by the shop and talk for a bit before they go on their way. The lighting inside isn't very bright, but we know exactly where every jar is kept. We don't use any big signs or flashing lights to get people to come in. People just know where we are located on Gurdwara Lane. It is a simple life running a pan bhandar. We have to watch the stock carefully because we can run out of things quickly. Sometimes when it rains, the water comes in and we have to move stuff back.
