The Blue Mountains School

You can find us up in the hills at Dil Khush Mahal in Ootacamund. Most people just call it Ooty. The Blue Mountains School has been around for a long time, tucked away in this old building. It’s a bit of a different pace up here compared to the cities. The weather is usually cool, and sometimes the mist just rolls right over the grounds. We have students living and learning here, and it feels more like a big, messy family than a strict institution. The floors creak and the garden always needs work, but that’s part of the charm. We aren't trying to be one of those fancy modern schools with glass walls. We like our old stone walls and the history that comes with Dil Khush Mahal. The kids spend a lot of time outside when it’s not raining. It’s a quiet life in some ways, but with a school, it’s never actually silent. There is always someone running in the hallways or a piano playing somewhere. We just go about our business of teaching and looking after the place. Ooty is a beautiful spot, and we feel lucky to be located where we are. It’s a bit of a climb to get here, but once you’re here, the view makes up for it. We keep things simple and focus on the day-to-day life of the school and the people in it.
