Narayana Techno School

Narayana Techno School is housed in Kundah House, which is located in the Fern Hill area of Ooty. Being up here at 643004 means the air is always a bit chilly, especially in the early mornings when the mist is still hanging around the trees. Kundah House is an older style building that gives the school a bit of a different feel compared to the modern ones in the plains. We have to keep the windows closed sometimes just to stay warm. The walk up to Fern Hill can be a bit steep, but it’s a beautiful part of Ooty. The school day here feels a bit different because of the environment. We have students who come in wearing their sweaters and jackets for most of the year. The staff spends time making sure the heaters are working if it gets too cold. Inside, the rooms have high ceilings and a lot of wood, which is common for this area. We focus on our daily lessons just like any other school, but the pace here feels a little more settled. The bells sound different in the mountain air. We don't have much in the way of promotional talk; we just provide a place for kids to learn while surrounded by the greenery of Fern Hill. It’s a quiet spot for a school, and we just manage the day-to-day work of teaching and looking after the building.
