Up here in the hills of Ooty, you’ll find Nav Adarsh Hr Sec School Kathua. We are situated in Theetukal, specifically in the Fernhill area. It’s a beautiful spot, though it gets quite cold in the mornings and during the rainy season. The school building has been around for a long time. We have students coming from various parts of Ooty to study here. Life is a bit slower up here compared to the plains. We don't have a lot of the fancy equipment some of the city schools might have, but we make do with what we've got. The staff are used to the mountain weather and the steep roads. We have a few main buildings where the secondary classes are held. It’s a practical place. We don't put on airs or try to sound more important than we are. We just want to make sure the kids in Theetukal have a place to go to school without having to travel too far. Most of the teachers have lived in Ooty their whole lives. We see the mist rolling in over Fernhill most afternoons. It’s a peaceful environment for the most part. We just focus on the books and the lessons. If you’re coming up the hill, just look for the Theetukal sign and you’ll find us easily enough near the old Fernhill path.
