Us Embassy, New Delhi

Being over here in Rohini Sector-1 at B-5/29 is a bit different from what most people expect when they hear the name. It is a regular building on a regular street in a residential area. Inside, it is mostly just desks and metal files and the sound of people talking on the phone. We spend our days dealing with various bits of paperwork and helping the folks who come through the door. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is nice for getting things done. There is a small park nearby where some of us go to sit during the afternoon break. We do not have a big sign or anything flashy outside. It is just where we work. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty because of all the construction going on nearby, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the tables and the computers. The machines are a bit old but they still work well enough for what we need to do. We don't really have a grand story to tell. It is just about getting the daily tasks finished and making sure everything is filed correctly in the right folders. People often get lost finding this specific block, so we end up giving directions over the phone quite a bit. The afternoon sun hits the front window pretty hard, making it warm in the lobby. We just turn up the fans and keep going until it is time to head home.
