We run our architecture practice out of Flat 54 in the Metro View Apartments in Dwarka. It’s a decent place to work, and being in Sector 13 makes it easy for clients to find us. There are three of us who started this, and we’ve been working together for a long time now. We handle a lot of the usual stuff you’d expect—drawing up plans, talking to builders, and trying to make sure everything stays on budget. It’s rarely a smooth process because something always comes up, like a delivery being late or a wall being half an inch off. We just deal with it as it happens. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just want to make sure the buildings we design are solid and make sense for the people using them. A lot of our day is spent looking at computer screens, but we also go out to the sites quite a bit to see how things are going. The traffic in Delhi can be a nightmare, so we try to plan our site visits for the middle of the day. Our office is usually full of samples—different tiles, wood pieces, and paint swatches scattered around. It’s a bit messy, but it shows we’re actually working. We just do our best to get the drawings right so the construction goes okay.
