Shree Jain Marbles

Our place, Shree Jain Marbles, is located in Chatrapur, right near the Shani Dham Mandir. Most people use the temple as a guide to find us because the roads back here can be a bit confusing if you aren't from around Madanganj. Being near the temple gives the area a bit of a calm feel, even though we are moving heavy stones all day. The yard is where everything happens. We have rows of marble slabs lined up, and we spend a lot of time splashing water on them so people can see the real color underneath the dust. It’s a noisy business, especially when the cutting tools are at work, but you get used to the sound after a while. We don't have any big slogans or polished marketing stuff. We just have the stone. If someone likes a piece, we talk about the size and how to get it loaded. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood wander near the gate, and we have to tell them to stay back for safety. It’s a very local way of working. We know the truck drivers by name and we know which quarries are sending the good stuff this month. Every slab is a bit of a gamble until you get it cut and polished, which keeps things interesting. We keep the gates open until late evening and then we head home to start it all over again the next day.
