Shining Handicrafts

Being at Janpath in Connaught Place means there is always noise. Our shop is in the Old Mini Market, number 4. It’s a small space, really. We have all sorts of handicrafts piled up. Some are brass, some are wood, some are just little things people buy as gifts. The tourists walk past all day long. Some stop, some don’t. We don’t do much marketing, just open the shutters in the morning and wait. It gets very hot in the summer, even with the fan going. You see the same faces every day, the other shopkeepers mostly. We’ve seen the market change a lot over the years. Used to be quieter. Now everyone is on their phones. We keep the items on shelves and hanging from the ceiling because there isn't much floor space. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because the traffic around CP is a mess. We just sort through the boxes and put things out. People ask for discounts all the time. It’s part of the business I guess. We aren’t trying to be some big showroom. It’s just a shop. Sometimes we find old items in the back that we forgot we had. The light in the back of the shop is a bit dim but we know where everything is. If you find yourself in Connaught Place, you just look for the Mini Market area. It’s been there forever.
