Chawla & Sons

We’ve been here at F-271 in Karampura for a long time now. Most people know the spot because it is right near the Kali Mandir, so it is easy to find if you are in the neighborhood. Chawla & Sons started out small and we just kept going year after year. It’s a family thing, really. My father started it and now we all just pitch in to keep the doors open. If you walk in, you’ll see it’s not some fancy showroom. There are boxes everywhere and sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what you are looking for in the back. We try to keep things simple. Dealing with people face to face is how we like to do things. Some days are busier than others, especially when there's a festival at the Mandir and the whole street gets crowded. We just open up early, drink some tea, and start the day. There is no big corporate office or anything like that behind us. It is just us here in Karampura. We know most of the regular faces who stop by. If someone needs something specific, we look through what we have. If we don’t have it, we tell them. We don't try to talk anyone into anything they don't need. It’s a straightforward way to run a shop. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it's quiet enough to read the paper. That’s just how it goes here.
