Rahi Rubber operates out of Sector 3 in Bawana. If you’ve ever been to Bawana, you know it’s a massive industrial hub where everyone is doing something different. Our unit is just one of many, and it’s usually quite warm inside because of the machinery we run. The smell of rubber is something you get used to after about ten minutes, but visitors always notice it right away. We spend our shifts watching the machines and making sure the molds are coming out right. It’s repetitive work, but it needs to be done carefully so we don’t waste material. The floor is concrete and often has bits of scrap rubber lying around until we sweep up at the end of the shift. Most of our workers live nearby or take the bus into the sector. We have a small office area tucked away in the front, but most of the action happens in the back. There’s a lot of heavy lifting involved when we get raw materials delivered. We don’t have any big signs or fancy branding on the outside of the building. It’s just a functional space meant for production. During the monsoon, the roads around Sector 3 can get pretty messy, but the work doesn't stop. We just keep the machines going and try to stay on top of the production schedule. It’s a straightforward business with no real frills, just hard work in a dusty industrial sector.
