Imported Marble Hub

We are out at Plot No. 5 in Chattarpur Extension. This part of Delhi is where you find a lot of stone yards and big warehouses. Imported Marble Hub is basically a large open space where we keep slabs of stone that come from all over. It’s a very physical environment. There are cranes and trolleys moving things around constantly. If you walk into our plot, you’ll see rows and rows of marble leaned up against each other. It’s quite dusty, and you have to be careful where you walk because the ground is often uneven. We spend our days showing different patterns and colors to people who are building new houses or offices. Marble is heavy, so every time someone wants to see a slab that’s buried in the middle of a stack, we have to move everything else out of the way. It’s a lot of sweat and hard work. The weather in Chattarpur can be extreme, really hot in the sun and muddy when it rains. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning; it’s mostly just the warehouse and a small cabin for doing the bills. People come here because they want to see the actual stone they are buying. We just show them what we have, tell them the size, and figure out the transport. It’s a straightforward way to run a business. We handle the slabs carefully, but chips and cracks are always a worry when you move such heavy weight.
