Shafi Marble House

Our shop is out on the Chattarpur Mandir Road, specifically KH-405 in Chandan Hola. It is quite near the IIPM Collage, which is a big landmark around here. We have a lot of marble slabs and stone blocks sitting out in the yard. Working with stone is heavy work, and you really feel it in your arms by evening. The white marble dust is everywhere—it covers the ground, the trucks, and even the trees nearby. We spend a lot of time showing people the different patterns in the stone. No two pieces are ever exactly the same, which is what makes it interesting. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit muddy, and we have to be careful moving the heavy slabs so they don’t slip. We use water to polish the edges, so there’s always a bit of a wet mess somewhere. People come from all over this part of Delhi to look for flooring or kitchen counters. We just try to show them what we have in stock. It is a quiet area compared to the city center, but the road gets busy with people going to the temple. We have a small shack where we sit when the sun gets too hot. Dealing with stone requires patience because you can't rush the cutting or the loading. We’ve been here at Chandan Hola for a good while, just doing our thing with the marble and granite every day. We close the gates around six.
