The smell of fresh sawdust is pretty much everywhere you go here at 101 Okhla Indl. Est. Akalsahai Wood Products is where we spend most of our daylight hours. Phase-III is a busy industrial area, but our little corner is usually focused on whatever we are cutting or joining on that specific day. We work with wood, so the environment is naturally dusty and a bit loud, but we have gotten used to it over the years. It is a very practical sort of business. We do not have a marketing team or anyone to write polished stuff for us to put on flyers. We just make various wood products and hope they fit exactly what the customers are looking for. Sometimes the raw wood isn't perfect, so we have to work around the knots and the grain to make it look right. It takes time and a good amount of patience. The guys working here have been doing this for a long time, so we kind of know the machines by the specific sounds they make. If a saw blade is even slightly off, someone usually hears it before anything goes wrong. We deal with all sorts of orders, some are very small and others take up the whole floor space for a week. We have got stacks of timber waiting to be used and scraps that we eventually find a use for. It is a straightforward life. You come in, work with your hands, and go home.
