Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya sits right here in Krishnapuram, out in Nellore. It is one of those places where the days start quite early. You can hear the morning whistle and see students getting ready for their classes. Being a residential setup, the campus is always full of life, even on weekends. The weather here in Nellore gets pretty hot during the summer, so the shade from the trees on the grounds is where most people end up during breaks. We have various buildings for dorms and classrooms scattered around. The dining hall is usually the busiest spot around noon. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular school with concrete walls and a lot of open space for the kids to run around. Sometimes the dust from the nearby roads blows in, but that is just part of living in this area. We have our routines, from the morning assembly to the late-evening study hours. The staff stays on the premises too, so there is always someone around fixing a leaky tap or checking the lights. It’s a bit of a trek from the main city center, but we are used to the quietness here. The gates stay shut mostly to keep things organized. You’ll see the local buses passing by the main road every few minutes. It is just a simple, busy life for everyone staying inside these walls at Krishnapuram. There is always a sense of movement, whether it is students walking to the lab or the workers tending to the small garden patches near the entrance gate.
