St Andrews High School

St Andrews High School on the Vapi Silvassa Road. This is in the Dungra area of Valsad. The road outside is always busy with people going to work in the factories or heading toward Silvassa. Our school is right in the middle of all that noise and activity. It can get pretty loud with the constant horns and the engines, but the kids are used to it by now. They don't even look up when a big truck goes by. We have a playground that is mostly dirt, and the kids play there during recess. The building itself is a few stories high and painted a simple color. The stairs are narrow, so it gets jammed with students when the bell rings. We spend our days grading papers and trying to keep the students focused on their textbooks. The area around here has grown a lot lately with more people moving in. There are more small shops and houses popping up every month. Our school stays pretty much the same, though. We have the same old cupboards full of paper files and the same routine every single morning. The sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon, making the classrooms quite warm. We have some fans, but they just move the hot air around the room. The staff room is always a bit cluttered with books and bags and lunch boxes. We drink a lot of water throughout the day. It’s a plain place with no big decorations. We just do the teaching and the kids do the learning. It’s been our address for years and we’re used to the rhythm of the road.
