Sarvajanik High School

Sarvajanik High School is located in the heart of Navsari, near the head office area. It’s an old institution and a lot of the people living in town went here themselves when they were younger. The building shows its age a bit, with some cracks in the plaster and heavy wooden shutters on the windows that keep the afternoon sun out. We try to keep up with the repairs but it’s a big place and there’s always something that needs fixing or painting. The hallways are wide and usually full of kids rushing to their next class or shouting to their friends. We have a staff room where we keep all the registers and the bell that we ring manually to mark the periods. It’s a very local atmosphere. Most of the staff live nearby, so we see each other at the market too. We don't have a big fancy website or anything like that; people just know us from being in the community for so long. The playground gets a lot of use, especially for cricket during the breaks. During the monsoon, the rain hits the tin roofs and makes so much noise we have to shout to be heard in class. It’s just part of life here. We focus on the textbooks and making sure the students are ready for their board exams. It’s a straightforward way of running things, without any extra fuss or unnecessary stuff. We’re just here to do our jobs every day.
