Bhima Shankar Marbles

Our place is over at Plot No-63 on Bank of India Road in Sector-23. Being in Turbhe means we’re right in the middle of all the industrial activity. It's a straightforward setup at Bhima Shankar Marbles. We have the yard where we keep the marble blocks and slabs. It’s mostly outdoor work, so we’re at the mercy of the weather. When it rains, things get a bit messy, but the work doesn't stop. People come by looking for something specific for their homes or offices. We spend a lot of time walking around the plot showing people the different grains in the stone. Every piece is a bit different, which is the interesting part of the job. Some slabs have deep veins, others are more plain. We’ve been on this road for a while, and the neighbors are all in similar trades. It’s loud because of the cutting and the loaders, but that’s just how a marble yard is. We don't bother with a lot of paperwork or fancy displays. The stone speaks for itself when you see it leaning against the walls. We mostly help folks figure out how many slabs they’ll need for their square footage. It takes a lot of heavy lifting and patience. Usually, we're just here from morning until the sun goes down, moving stones and talking to the truck drivers who bring in new loads. It’s hard work but it keeps us busy and out of trouble in Turbhe.
