New Life Wood & Furniture

New Life Wood & Furniture is located in Naya Pura, right near the Old Beef Market on East Mohammad Ali Road. My family has been working with wood for as long as I can remember. The shop is always smelling like fresh sawdust and varnish. We make a lot of stuff from scratch, like beds, chairs, and cupboards. It's a noisy place with the sound of saws and hammers going all day. The floor is usually covered in wood shavings, no matter how many times we sweep it. We have some finished pieces near the front for people to look at, but a lot of what we do is custom work. People come in with sketches or just an idea, and we try to build it for them. It’s not a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s a dusty workshop where real work happens. Sometimes a piece takes longer than promised because the wood needs more time to dry or we get a sudden rush of orders. I spend a lot of time talking to customers about different types of timber and what would look best in their homes. Being near the Old Beef Market means there’s always a lot of activity on the street outside. We’ve been at this Naya Pura location for years. It’s a hard life working with your hands, but seeing a finished wardrobe go out on a rickshaw makes it feel worth it. We just keep building things one piece at a time and hope people like what we make.
