Bhawani Brick Works

We've been making bricks here in Nimgaon for a long time now. Bhawani Brick Works is just a local spot near the village and the post office, so it isn't hard to find if you are in the area. It’s a dusty place, honestly, but that’s just how it goes when you're dealing with raw clay and big kilns all day. Taluka Malegaon isn't too far away, but we mostly stay busy right here on our own patch of land. We use the local soil and bake the bricks until they are solid enough for any wall. People come by when they are building a small house or maybe just fixing a broken fence. It’s hard work out in the sun, and our backs usually ache by the time evening rolls around. Sometimes the weather makes things real difficult, especially when the monsoon rains start and everything turns to soup, but we get back to it once the ground dries out again. We don’t have any of those fancy machines you see on TV, it's mostly just our hands and the fire doing the work. My family knows just about everyone around Nimgaon, and they all know where to find us when they need a load. If you're driving through this part of Malegaon, you'll likely see the tall stacks of red bricks sitting by the side of the road. We keep a simple schedule that follows the sun. Some days are longer than others. We just try to get the work done.
