Maurya College

Maurya College is tucked away in Ramchandar Pur, right here in Biharsharif. If you’re familiar with the Nalanda district, you know this area gets quite crowded during the day. Our building isn't anything spectacular to look at from the outside, but it does the job. Most of our students come in from the surrounding villages and towns, so the bike parking is usually a mess by nine in the morning. Inside, the classrooms are basic. We have wooden benches that have seen better days and chalkboards that never stay completely black. The staff room is always full of stacks of paper and the smell of tea being brewed on a small stove. We spend a lot of time helping students with their forms and paperwork, which seems to never end. There’s no big corporate vibe here. It’s just us trying to make sure the lectures happen on time and that the students have a place to sit. On rainy days, the roof leaks a tiny bit in the far corner of the library, so we just move the chairs. It’s a practical place for people who want to get their degree without a lot of fuss. We know the local shops nearby and sometimes the professors go out for a snack at the corner stall. It’s a very normal part of the community in Biharsharif, and we’ve been here long enough that people just know us by sight.
