Woodlands Senior Secondary School

Woodlands Senior Secondary School is up in the hills of Bhimtal, Nainital. The air is a lot cooler here than down in the plains, and sometimes the mist rolls right into the school grounds in the morning. We are located in a spot that looks out over the local area, which is quite nice during the spring. The students here have to be used to walking on slanted roads and steps because nothing is flat in the mountains. The school building is a solid structure built to handle the heavy rains we get in this part of Uttarakhand. Inside, it’s mostly about the senior secondary students who are preparing for their big exams. You’ll see them carrying heavy bags of books up the hill every morning. The classrooms can get a bit chilly in the winter, so everyone wears thick sweaters and mufflers. We have a playground, but it’s often damp from the mountain dew. The staff spends their time keeping the registers in order and making sure the fireplace or heaters are working when it gets really cold. Being in Bhimtal - 263136 means we are a bit away from the main Nainital tourist rush, so it’s generally quieter here. Life moves at a different pace in the hills, and the school follows that rhythm. We just focus on getting the lessons done before the afternoon clouds start gathering over the ridges.
