Discovery Boarding School

We are located at 10 Tallital in Nainital. Being a boarding school up here in the hills means we deal with a lot of specific things like the cold weather and the steep walks. The school building has been around for a long time and has high ceilings that make it quite difficult to keep warm in the winter months. We use small electric heaters, but they don't do much when the temperature really drops. The students are used to it and just wear their heavy woolens. Our daily routine is pretty simple. We have a kitchen where we make basic meals like dal, rice, and vegetables. It is home-style cooking because that is what we know how to do. The walk up from the main road can be a bit of a struggle for people who aren't used to the altitude. We see the same faces every morning when we open the gates. Sometimes monkeys come around the property and we have to be very careful to keep the windows shut so they don't get into the food. We don't have fancy sports fields or high-tech labs. It is just classrooms with old desks and blackboards. We spend our time on the lessons and making sure the kids are fed and safe. Parents come up to visit on some weekends and we sit on the small porch to talk. It is a quiet life here by the lake and we just keep things running.
