Hermann Gmeiner School

This school is based in Bhimtal, which is up in the Nainital district. Being in the hills makes the atmosphere quite different compared to the schools down in the plains. We have students from various parts of this region, and the commute for some of them involves a bit of travel on those winding mountain roads every morning. The campus is sturdy because it has to be, given the weather we get here. It can get pretty chilly in the winter months, so everyone is usually wrapped up in heavy sweaters during the morning hours. The view is nice, but for us, it is just where we work every day. We have the usual mix of classrooms and outdoor spaces where the students spend their breaks. It is not a silent place by any means, especially when the kids are moving between classes or playing during their free time. The teachers here have a lot to manage, from the daily attendance to making sure the students stay focused on their books. Bhimtal is a relatively quiet town, so the school is one of the more active spots in the area. We just focus on the basic tasks of running a school in a hilly terrain. There is plenty of paperwork and the usual administrative stuff that comes with any educational institution. It is a simple, functional place for the local community and those living nearby in the Nainital hills.
