Vijay Gents Parlour

This is a men's parlour in Sadar Bazar. We are on Samiullah Marg, right near the Corporation Ground. It is a very basic barber shop. We have the rotating chairs and the large mirrors. Men come in for a quick shave or a haircut. Nagpur gets very hot so the fans are always running at full speed. We have been in this spot for a long time. You can see the ground from our front door. Sometimes kids are playing cricket there and we watch while we work. It’s a local hangout for the guys in the neighborhood. We don't have any fancy spa treatments. It is just scissors, razors, and some hair cream. The floor gets covered in hair quickly and we sweep it out into the street. We talk about sports or politics with the customers. It is a noisy, lively place. The shop isn't very big so if four people are waiting, it feels full. We don't use any high-end products, just the regular stuff you find in the market. It is a honest way to make a living. We open early in the morning for the office goers. Sometimes we have a little radio playing in the corner. It is a simple place for a simple service. No one expects anything more than a decent cut. We just do our bit and keep moving until it is time to close up.
