We’ve been here at Reshimbagh Chowk for a good while now. The shop is right on the highway, so it gets pretty loud with all the trucks and cars heading toward Nagpur. Most people know us because they need their phones topped up or they’re looking for a last-minute gift for a birthday. It’s a small place, packed with different things on the shelves. Sometimes we’re just sitting here waiting for the next customer to walk in from the M.I.G Colony area. You get all sorts of people stopping by. Some are in a real hurry to get their recharge done so they can make a call, and others take forever picking out a plastic toy or a picture frame. We try to keep the shop organized, but with so many small items, it’s a bit of a struggle. My desk is usually covered in papers and old scratch cards. The fan overhead makes a bit of clicking noise every time it turns, but we’re used to it. Life moves fast on this road. We see the same faces every morning when the neighborhood wakes up and starts their day. It’s not a fancy setup, just a regular counter and some old glass display cases. We don’t do much fancy talking here. If someone needs a gift wrapped, we find some paper and get it done. It’s just how we run things every day from morning till the lights go off late at night.
