We operate Speed Farm Agro Producer Company Limited out of Shri Vitthal Bhimraoji Thakare’s house. It’s house number 59/7 in Bhatkuli. Being in a small place like Bhatkuli means everyone knows everyone. We aren't some big city company. We are just a group of people who decided to work together to make things a bit easier for the farmers around here. Vitthal was kind enough to let us use his place as our main office. It’s where we keep all our records and where we meet up to discuss the season. Working in agriculture in this part of Maharashtra is tough sometimes. You have to deal with the water situation and the prices that go up and down. We try to help each other out with those things. It’s a very hands-on job. Most of us are out in the fields for most of the day, then we come to the house in the evening to sort out the business side of things. It’s not a polished operation with uniforms and receptionists. It’s just us in our regular clothes, sitting around a table. We do our best to make sure the produce from Bhatkuli gets where it needs to go. It’s a community effort more than anything else. We’ve been doing this for a while and we just take it one day at a time. It feels good to work with people you have known your whole life.
